anyone trust downloading a free anti virus program?

i was looking at reviews of different virus programs and it said the panda cloud free edition wasn’t bad. I’m not so sure on downloading free stuff. my anti is trend micro which is about to expire
never heard of avest. what about norton?
the avast one does it have the spyware crap too? ok to be honest i havent had a computer in years so this is kinda new 2 me. i just want something that maybe has everything i need in one program?

You need 1 anti-virus, 1 firewall, and multiple anti-spyware programs. There are suites that contain all of them, but they tend to be weak in 1 or more areas.

There is nothing wrong with free security programs, Luthor’s predictable rant notwithstanding. Avira & Avast consistently rank at or near the top of the tests against the best paid anti-viruses.
